Just thought id update a little post on here. I completed my spreadsheet exam today and I think it went pretty well considering when I first started and did not have any idea about them or what they were used for. Now you can ask me pretty much anything and I will try and answer you to the best of my knowledge.

So for all you new guys a little tip: …… If your stuck on anything dont just sit there  wondering ask ur tutors or the tutor in the room with you at the time or ask anyone around their always there to help and that’s what I learned to get up and grab some help and then search it up yourself so it stays fresh in your head. everyone will always be happy to help.

If you do need any help and cant find anyone just come and look for me my names (Gemma Allen) and ill always be happy to help :D .

I have now completed Project 1 on Transformers the Movie,  5 exams and passed 4 still waiting to get 1 marked, i only have 2 left which im going to attempt my power point  presentation tomorrow, get it out the way before I go on my travels to LANZAROTE :) in 10 days time which im really excited ab

out… whooop whooop…..

Thats enough off me wafflling on

oh one more thing before i go – What you call a Dinosaur with (1) Eye?

hahaha.

Chow for now

I’ ve enjoyed my first week, its been interesting, the things i’ve learned in just a few days has been great. I’m looking forward to learning a lot more. I m looking forward to spending time over the weekend with my family and friends and hopefully fit some horse riding in as well.
Today (thursday) we learnt the difference between serif and san serif fonts and learnt how to blog. I must say I found everyone really friendly and happy to help if you should need it.
Also the tutors are very nice here , they explain things  clearly and slowly until you understand and if your stuck you don’t have to be afraid to ask.

Just completed my Spreadsheets Exam, I thought that it went well. However will not know until the results are posted on the blog.. Only two exams and another project to go now… Where’s the time going?! I’ll tell you, it’s going out the window with the laughter of a comedic group… Spreadsheets haven’t always been my strong point but after revising with ALISON and members of the funny group, we’ve helped each other and got through it. May Group has got some great characters in it, and the banter we share is just amazing. I’ll be totally honest… cadets has some characters but none so amazing as this group :D

This is week one ,it has been an information overload , I thought  at the beginning there would be to many hours and what would I be doing ,now I think there is so much to learn I need to be here for the next 10 years to be able to take it all in,but surprise , it does sink in,slowly, each time I sit at the computer I find myself being able to do things that previously I wouldn’t of  had a clue, and being able to ask for help at any point has really helpful.

There are eight in the group, some are at different levels to me ,as long as there are people at the same level as me roughly I don’t mind.Going through the Alison learning site has been a whole new experience for me,it holds so much info, I think how can I ever remember all this? I have been going back to the tests quite a few times to see if I am taking the info in and find I am remembering things a week a go I had never even heard of.It is really strange at the start to follow this voice, but I can see it does work, and there is a pattern to follow, which I can go backwards and forwards to check where I am . As time goes by I see what things mean and that makes it easier to understand.

Well my first week is coming to a close and i can say i survived. Its not been one of the better weeks of my life and I’m hoping things will get better. The fact that i hurt my back about an hour before i came on monday has made me feel quite miserable on times so i hope that as it gets better everything else won’t seem so bad.

All the tutors are really friendly and helpful and all my fellow classmates are great to get on with so that’s half the battle won.

I am taking my four-year old nephew away to Trecco bay for  a few days so that’s  my battle for weekend,a war I’m afraid i will never win.I won’t be in monday because of this but i will be back on Tuesday unless aliens hopefully abduct me.

Looking forward to my dad returning home soon from visiting family in Canada as he’s been gone a few weeks and it seems like forever.

Well that’s it so bye for now, hope you all have a good weekend.

I have now spent one week at the ITeC training center and to be honest ,i found it a little bit daunting iniatially.By the end of this week,i am feeling a bit more comfortable, although i think i will have to give myself another week or two.I have learnt a lot already, like different parts of the computer and their uses, typing letters, logging in,how to go to different sites, and blogging, although am still finding it a bit confusing in how to arrive and log in to the blogging page, but hopefully by next week i might be able to do it better or even very well with a little bit of help .The other members of the learning group are all very nice people and every one gets along very well. The tutors are all really very nice and friendly and doing a wonderful job with us lot.I hope and am sure by the end of the course everyone of us will be a happy learner and go away with something positive to add in their lives and or  careers.

Thursday is here which mean that our first week of training is now over, and to be honest it has flown by. I had some computer skills before starting the course so it feels like a recap over some bits I have gotten rusty on while picking up some new skills along the way.  Starting off doing blogs which is something I haven’t ever done and moved on to word, spreadsheets and Powerpoint.
Day Two And Three had a look at a lot of the links for ICT security for users and tested my knowledge  on a few of the quiz’s its surprising how much you can pick up in such a short amount of time. What i have learnt will really come in handy for the first part of my module IT Security for users ( ECDL ).
Thursday was spent recapping and the going over the different types of  Serif  and San serif fonts. We took four different fonts and wrote a small paragraph for each of them just to get the feel for the difference between them.
All in all i’m really getting into the course and i’m hoping to branch out to learn a bit more about English, Maths and hopefully Welsh.

Well today is Thursday which means it’s the last day of my first week at itec.  It’s gone quite quickly really. Apparently my first exam is next Thursday which is a bit nerve-racking! The exam is on IT Security so we’ve been reading up a lot on that subject. To be honest I didn’t think I was taking any of it in but I completed a mock-like test on IT Security yesterday and I did reasonably well so that boosted my confidence a little. Everyone is really friendly which makes things easier, I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone more,  and maybe make some new friends.

There seems to be a lot of reading involved at the moment which is quite wearing but like I said earlier, it all seems to be sticking so it’s worth it! I’m looking forward to learning new things and taking the exams because I really want these qualifications so I can get a decent job in Admin.

Today we learnt about the 2 main different types of font….. Serif, and Sans-Serif. This is something that I didn’t know until today, I’ve always printed my CV out in Times New Roman font but after today, I feel like I want to change it to make it stand out a bit more.

Yesterday we signed up to Mahara which is where we will be keeping our portfolio work, looks quite interesting. You can chat to other trainees etc on there too. I find the ALISON learning site to be really helpful, you can listen to someone explaining the ins and outs of just about everything to do with computers. Anyway, that’s the end of my first week and now i’m going to spend my long weekend with friends and having a few drinks :)

The first week of my  course has been informative, although I have some knowledge of ICT there has been plenty that I have learnt for instance the programs that are used.

All of the tutors have been friendly informative and not least enthusiastic

I like the system of a paperless environment, if we are using networked computers it makes sense to use them to the full.

Less than a year ago I was on  a computer course at “Gower College” Gorseinon.  And though they ran a paper recycling regime all student output was paper based was a huge waste in my opinion.
