Gamifying work

We were shown a TED talks presentation by Jane McGonigal, outlining ways in which habits learned by gaming can be implemented in real life situations, in order to rethink our approach to tasks.

We then researched gamification apps like SuperBetter and Epic Win, which apply RPG style statistics and systems such as experience and loot to everyday chores and tasks. Of these apps, I personally preferred Epic Win, as the visual aesthetics and light-hearted take on the RPG system epicwin1appealed more to me than the more serious design of some of the others, and the interface also appeared more polished than some that were researched.

At the moment, I would say that motivating myself to complete the tedious or difficult tasks that need doing is an issue for me, and so apps like this may be a way to better motivate myself.
